They work alongside academic staff, postdoctoral researchers, technical specialists and external collaborators to investigate questions spanning the smallest scales of matter to the evolution of planets, stars and galaxies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our postgraduate researchers contribute to projects across astronomy, physics, physics education, planetary and space sciences, and space instrumentation. Their research includes theoretical, computational, observational, laboratory and instrument-development approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Research areas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Astronomy and astrophysics<\/li>\n<li>Experimental, computational and theoretical physics<\/li>\n<li>Physics education research and scholarship<\/li>\n<li>Planetary and space sciences<\/li>\n<li>Space instrumentation and detector technology<\/li>\n<li>Astrochemistry and laboratory astrophysics<\/li>\n<li>Astrobiology and planetary habitability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Our research environment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Research students have access to specialist laboratories, analytical facilities, clean rooms, space-environment simulation chambers, mechanical and electronic workshops, astronomical observations and high-performance computing facilities. Many projects are connected to international collaborations, observatories, space missions and external research organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students participate in research-group meetings, seminars, workshops and conferences and receive training to support their research, professional development and future careers.
