This talk will describe a series of empirical investigations into the relationship between mental imagery and software visualisation in professional, high-performance programming. It will describe why these programmers tend not to use commercially available visualisation software as well as what tools they build for themselves, how they use the tools they build for themselves, and why they build tools for themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
