The Knowledge Media Institute (KMi) is a research institute and does not directly offer undergraduate qualifications. Students interested in the subjects underpinning KMi’s research can study a wide range of related qualifications through The Open University.

Relevant areas include artificial intelligence, computing, data science, digital technologies, human–computer interaction and the ways technology affects learning and society.

Computing and IT

The Open University offers flexible undergraduate qualifications in computing and IT, from certificates and diplomas through to honours degrees. Available pathways cover areas such as software development, communications and networking, cyber security and data science.

Artificial intelligence

Students with a particular interest in artificial intelligence can explore OU qualifications and modules covering computer science, machine learning, programming and the ethical and social implications of AI.

Opportunities with KMi

KMi periodically offers opportunities for younger learners and undergraduate-level students to experience a research environment. These include its summer scholarship programme, which provides selected participants with mentoring and the opportunity to explore contemporary computing research.

Details of available schemes, including their eligibility requirements and application dates, are published on the KMi website.
