Relational Database to RDF (RDB2RDF)

 Juan Sequeda

Juan Sequeda – Department of Computer Sciences, University of Texas, Austin
This event took place on Wednesday 15 May 2013 at 16:00

This tutorial will introduce participants to mapping Relational Databases to RDF (RDB2RDF). We will present the two new, interrelated and complementary W3C standards, “Direct Mapping of Relational Data to RDF” and “R2RML: RDB to RDF Mapping Language”.  Furthermore we will contrast and explain the preferred solution organizations embodies by these two standards.  The suitability of each approach will be characterized by both architectural concerns and the skill sets that exist in the supporting organizations.  Architectural aspects include comparing ‘Extract, Transform, Load’ (ETL) of relational data to RDF into a triplestore versus answering SPARQL queries against a live relational database.
